Betty Kitt was one of the group of people who founded the Sea Ranger Association, and she was the Sea Ranger Association’s first Chairman.
Every year the SRA sets a competition to win the Betty Kitt Trophy, which is named after her.
The competition alternates between Cadet Sea Rangers and Sea Rangers and for 2012 the competition is for Sea Ranger Cadets.
The challenge for 2012:
Make an 'inest hotel' or 'bug house' for the overwintering of mini beasts
- Entries can be from an individual, a watch or a Cadet Crew
- The 'bug house ' should be made from any recycled or organicmaterial and could be made to hang up on a fence or tree or can be freestanding
- You will also need to make a list with drawings of the type of bugs you hope to attract
- Your entry must be clearly identified with your name(s), age(s) and the name of your watch (if appropriate) and the name of your Cadet Crew
Your entries need to be taken to the Cadet Sea Ranger Dolphin Troophy Competition on 12th May 2012 at Sutton Coldfield. All entries will be judged at the Dophin Trophy Competition. The judges will be looking at the design, content and presentation.
All entries received by 31st July 2011 will be judged before the Lord Amory Boating Training Weekend in September 2011. The Judges will be looking at design, content and presentation.
The Judges' decision is final.
